How the planet’s toughest winter endurance race changed Scott Biddle’s Perspective

An Exclusive Interview with Scott Biddle at His Port Dover Home

Sitting in his Port Dover home, Scott Biddle, CEO of Scotlynn, reflects on a journey that shaped his life and leadership. “Health and wellness are not just personal goals – they’re essential for personal and professional success,” he begins.

Scott’s commitment to physical fitness and mental resilience stems from his experiences competing in one of the world’s most extreme endurance events: Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Race. This grueling 3,100-kilometer challenge across the unforgiving Labrador wilderness put his mental and physical limits to the ultimate test.

“I’ve done Cain’s Quest three times—2014, 2016, and 2018,” Scott recalls. “The first time, I didn’t complete it. It’s a race where 70% of competitors don’t finish. The physical and mental challenges are overwhelming. When you’re out on the North Atlantic sea ice with your hands bleeding and with 100km winds pounding you, you ask yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?’

For Scott Biddle, the answer was simple: “to prove I could.

The Turning Point: Perseverance and Redemption

After the setback in 2014, Scott came back stronger. In 2016, his resilience and determination earned him the coveted ‘taillight award’ for finishing last – a remarkable feat in a race where simply crossing the finish line is a victory.

“That year taught me an invaluable lesson: success isn’t about beating others. It’s about persevering when everything in you wants to quit.”

2018 Scott’s unwavering preparation paid off when he achieved an incredible 3rd-place finish. “It was the culmination of years of mental and physical training. That race taught me so much about leadership and life: You have to dig deep when you think there’s nothing left. That’s a lesson I’ve brought back to my leadership role as CEO of Scotlynn.”

Scott Biddle Leads by Example: Health and Growth Go Hand in Hand

Scott Biddle is a CEO who leads from the front. His personal commitment to wellness is not just a cornerstone of his leadership philosophy, but a guiding light for his team.

“Starting a wellness journey is like starting a business,” Scott explains. “There are 1,000 reasons to give up, but each of us just needs that one reason that keeps you going. Cain’s Quest taught me to embrace challenges instead of running from them. I want my team at Scotlynn to know that same resilience.”

He adds, “When people feel their best, they perform their best. That’s why wellness is not just a program at Scotlynn – it’s a way of life.”

Will Scott Biddle Compete in Cain’s Quest Again?

As we wrap up the conversation, the question lingers: Will Scott Biddle race in Cain’s Quest again?

Scott laughs, leaning back in his chair. “Never say never,” he smiles. “The race taught me so much about perseverance, resilience, and the power of preparation. Whether it’s Cain’s Quest or life, we should never stop challenging ourselves. You can’t grow unless you step outside your comfort zone. So, who knows? Maybe I’ll be back on the sea ice one day.”

In true Scott Biddle fashion, his answer is inspiring and determined – a reminder that success comes to those willing to push their limits no matter the challenge.

Scott’s Final Word on Health, Wellness, and Leadership

For Scott Biddle, wellness isn’t just a buzzword – it’s the foundation of thriving individuals and organizations.

“Wellness isn’t something you do once in a while – it’s a daily commitment. When you prioritize your health every day, you show up stronger, sharper, and more resilient in every area of life. It’s the foundation for success, both personally and professionally.”
